Rotwild extends their lightweight ebike line-up with the all-new e-gravel R.R275 X. It’s easy to miss the smooth TQ-powered pedal-assist tucked in behind the crankset, as we were distracted by the sharp angular aesthetic and sleek cockpit & lighting integration…

We actually got a sneak peek at Rotwild’s first gravel ebike – the new R.R275 X – back at Eurobike this summer. But they hadn’t been quite ready to give us the full details, yet. But now the new ebike has gone into full production in Germany. You can buy one now. And we have the fully integrated details.

For their first performance dropbar ebike, the R.R275 X leans a bit more in the all-road direction as Rotwild sees e-gravel as an ideal platform for on & off-road versatility. So the Rotwild R.R275 X gets a road-inspired fit, high-powered integrated lighting for all the asphalt riding. But it doesn’t skimp on capability to hit the forest paths, gravel roads, and some trails, too.

What’s new & unique?

While plenty of ebikes let the technology and power-assist sit front & center, Rotwild wanted a more subtle approach for their gravel ebike. That’s why they picked the same smooth TQ HPR50 powertrain & small internal battery that they put in their ultralight trail ebike – the 15.3kg R.X275. But on the gravel R.R275 X, Rotwild take sleek integration to the next-level.

This new gravel ebike puts TQ’s simple display into the top of the toptube, just behind the flush stem. And then for controls, Rotwild custom mounts them into the base of your SRAM or Shimano hoods.

On the left side you get a TQ Boost button, that no matter what riding mode you had selected will give you up to 30 seconds of max 300W boosted assist to take on a steep section or fast acceleration. Ride all day in eco mode for maximum range, but smash (and hold) that Boost button to fly up a steep off-road ramp!

On side of the right shifter is another custom button. This one is your 1000 lumen high beam, controlling the 5-LED Supernova Starstream headlight integrated into the Rotwild’s red alloy stem (550lm on low).

Tech details

The hi-mod carbon frame and fork feature a 1.5″ tapered headset and fully integrated internal cable routing. A max 700 x 50mm tire clearance makes it pretty all-terrain capable. But Rotwild envision it as more of a fast gravel ebike and specs with fast-rolling 45s.

Of course, 12mm thru-axles and flat mount disc brakes keep everything in control. Rotwild also provides hidden mounts for full-coverage fender compatibility.

The TQ powertrain uses the 50Nm HPR50 motor for pedal-assist up to 25 km/h with a smooth natural ride feel that you can customize in-app. A 252Wh battery powers it. And range can augmented with an optional 160Wh external Range Extender battery pack. The frame features 2 sets of Fidlock mounts on the downtube only (no seattube cage mounts). So you can mount a water bottle in the upper mount, and the Range Extender in the lower position.

Overall, geometry-wise, Rotwild describes the R.R275 X as “race-oriented” with low frame Stack, all-road oriented Reach, a happy medium 69.5° head angle, and a steep 74° seat angle. Being that, the full carbon lightweight ebike comes in four stock sizes (S-XL).
