Transition has introduced a new Repeater eMTB, powered by the SRAM Powertrain. It is an evolution of the Sentinel-inspired eMTB they launched in 2022, only with more travel and a slightly more aggressive set of geometry numbers.

Adoption of the SRAM motor and its accompanying AXS Transmission componentry makes this eMTB one of the most feature-packed on the market, with an appealingly clutter-free cockpit thanks to the use of SRAM Pod Controllers. And (hooray), there’s no thru-headset cable routing.

Details on the new Repeater below. But first, do check out Aletha Ostgaard putting the Repeater through its paces. The fifteen year old is a rising star of Downhill, having recently taken 2nd place at the US Open, beaten only by the Syndicate’s Nina Hoffmann. Great things to come from Aletha, I feel.

The top-end Transition Repeater XO AXS model retails at £11,999.99. It’s worth noting that’s £2,000 more than the equivalently spec’d Nukeproof Megawatt RS.

First up, the SRAM-powered Transition Repeater does not displace the Shimano-powered Repeater that debuted last year.

The SRAM-powered and Shimano-powered Repeater eMTBs aren’t worlds away from one another. However, the Powertrain-equipped bike does have 10mm more travel, at 170mm front and rear. It’s marginally more progressive, too, with 26.6% overall progression versus the EP8-equipped bike that has 26%.

Cables (if you need them) enter the frame just aft of the headtube. Thanks to the AXS Pod Controllers, there’s only the two brake cables to keep under control. It’s neat.

There isn’t heaps of contrast on the geometry front either. It is a little slacker with a 63.5° head angle. Chainstay length remains unchanged at 455mm across the board, with reach at 425mm, 455mm, 480mm and 510mm on the S, M, L & XL, respectively.

That said, this is the more versatile of the two eBikes, with a flip-chip at the lower shock mount. This is intended as a geometry-correction flip-chip, allowing the rider to choose between a complete 19″ configuration, or the increasingly-popular MX configuration. Meanwhile, the Shimano-powered Repeater of 2022 is intended for 29″ wheels only.

The Repeater’s seat angle is relatively steep, at 78.2° on the size large. Bucking the trend, Transition has given the larger frame sizes slacker seat tube angles. That’ll mean the additional rearward bias that naturally comes with a taller saddle height will be compounded on the Repeater. I guess, that’s not something to get too hung up on given that this is an eBike, and there’s a 90 Nm torque electric motor between your legs.

Seat tubes are short, allowing riders to make use of long travel dropper seat posts. That means more room to dance around the cockpit when things inevitably get extra fun. That said, stock builds launching today get a RockShox Reverb AXS dropper, so 170mm is the limit out of the box.

SRAM Powertrain

The Transition Repeater is one of only three eMTBs on the market to boast the SRAM Powertrain, the others being the 2024 Nukeproof Megawatt, and the GasGas ECC. Propain has also revealed (on socials) that a new Powertrain-equipped Ekano is incoming.

Briefly, the SRAM Powertrain, powered by Brose, is a 90 Nm torque system with 680 W peak power. Transition run a 720 Wh SRAM battery in all frame sizes. The battery can be charged on the bike only; it is not removable.

Paired with XO AXS and GX AXS Transmission, the SRAM Powertrain system delivers extra features like auto-shift and coast-shift. The former we could take or leave. The latter? Extraordinarily good.

Indeed, at the Summer Bike Connection event in Andalo, Italy, we tested the Powertrain, and its auto-shift and coast-shift functions, on the Megawatt – see our first ride impressions here.

Pricing & Availability

The 2024 Transition Repeater is available in two models; an £11,999.99 XO AXS model, and a £10,499.95 GX AXS model. Both boast a full carbon frame and the SRAM Eagle Powertrain system with a 720 Wh battery. Oh, and they both get a OneUp EDC Lite Tool installed in the steerer tube. The frame comes with a five-year warranty, while the SRAM motor gets the standard two-year warranty.

That frame looks awesome. Sram using Brose motors is an interesting move. While the Brose motor will smoke a Shimano, the warranty rate at Specialized with Brose motors is horrific.

And it doesn’t smoke any of the Shimanos all things considered. Brose drive units are absolute crap once you hit a year into riding them. Tops.
