I was pleasantly surprised last year with how effective Ass-Savers’ latest Win Wing fender kept road and gravel spray at bay, and now gen 2 is even better. Upgraded with a tougher plastic mounting bracket, new frame protection, and a more visually-pleasing black wishbone with optional stealth graphics. The changes are subtle. Enough so that you could miss them – outside of the new black color. But version 2.0 is genuinely better. And it’s great to see such a simple, affordable & functional small product be continually refined…

Ass Savers Win Wing 2 improved strap-on fender
A simple wishbone looped over your tire and strapped to the seatstays, the Win Wing fender stops mud and water right at the source. Ass Savers call it “tangential coverage”. The Win Wing stops spray at the tire, before it’s thrown towards your… ass. And I kinda love it, from road to gravel, even to protecting the dropper post seals on my XC bikes.
It was a big leap from the original Ass-Savers that simply clipped onto your saddle. But oh, how much more effective these new fenders are!
So, what’s actually new?
From a technical perspective, the new (black) Win Wing 2 is incrementally stronger than the original (gray) thanks to a revised reinforcement design. The new structural rib extends a bit further up the leg of the wishbone away from the foot where it straps around your stays.
It also moves the left-side slot away from the edge. So you can still secure the fender on your bike with a zip-tie, but with reduced chance of failure at a weak point there.
The top of the loop is also a bit thicker and the cutout at the central pin that adjusts the fender angle is smaller and more reinforced. Effectively with the same amount (weight) of material, the new Ass-Savers Win Wing 2 is more resistant to breaking when it is on or off the bike.
Remember, just because Ass Savers calls it a wishbone, you shouldn’t pull both ends apart and make a wish. Unless your wish is to break a perfectly functional fender. It is tough, but not indestructible.
Another tiny update, Ass-Savers now ships the Win Wing 2 with two little clear polyurethane frame-saver stickers. Worried about scuffing your frame, stick these around the seatstays before strapping on the fender.
Lastly, it’s black.
The original had a gray wishbone and all manner of colorful fender blades. Now the new Ass-Savers Win Wing 2 gets a more refined-looking black wishbone & rubber feet/straps. And in addition to colorful blades, you can also opt for the gloss black on matte black limited Stealth edition like I have on my Festka One Gravel aka Rover prototype here – if you act fast.
My Gravel Stealth version weighed 73g (without frame saver stickers) a whopping 1g more than my first generation fender. 😉
Ass Savers Win Wing 2 – Pricing, Options & Availability
Just like the OG, the updated Ass Savers Win Wing 2 will still come in 2 sizes. Pick Road for up to 35mm tires (64g) or Gravel for up to 60mm tires (72g). We’ve only seen the gen 2 for the bigger gravel one so far. They’ve effectively unchanged prices starting at 26€ and available from today – direct from Ass Savers or their retailers.
The Stealth version adds an extra euro, or even two for the most colorful Spektrum. But the fender blades themselves are unchanged. So you can swap those around between v1 & v2 if you already have one you really love, like the limited Squid edition or our fav Bohemian Border Bash edition.
