It’s really just a premium spec update to YT’s latest carbon enduro bike, but that yellow-accent Öhlins coil & X0 Transmission-equipped Capra Core 5 just drew me in. YT again manages to deliver a lot of value in a race-ready bike. It’s by no means cheap. But in a world where we see $10k bikes all too often – a build like this for $6500/6000€ doesn’t look so bad…
YT Capra Core 5, true race-spec carbon enduro bike
YT’s Capra again gets another solid build option. Add this to the affordable bikepark Uncaged 10 or the auto-pilot-equipped Uncaged 12. More options let riders really get the bike build perfectly suited to how they ride. And this one is a race-bred bike built for “conquering rowdy terrain at speed“. YT says it’s “all about going Fast. As. F**k.“
Tech details
Read about the full tech details of the generation 3 YT Capra in its launch article, here. Or maybe more detail in our own detailed review of the MX carbon mullet enduro bike, here. But suffice it to say, this Capra Core 5 is the new top-tier of YT’s enduro bike, with their lightest & stiffest ultra-hi-mod carbon frameset, and a killer build.
You get 170mm of front wheel travel, paired to 165mm or rear wheel travel with a 29″ rear wheel or 170mm with the 27.5″ wheel in the slightly shorter mullet MX chainstay option. And proven, modern long & slack geometry – ready for the bikepark, enduro racing, or your gnarliest local trails.
Suspension-wise… “the Öhlins’ RXF38 M.2 fork features a triple-chamber air spring for precision adjustment and control over the beginning, middle, and end stroke. Damping is taken care of by the World Championship-winning TTX18 cartridge with high/low-speed compression and rebound adjustment for traction through rough trail sections. Out back, the Öhlins TTX M.2 features an updated bottom-out bumper and an increased high-speed compression range for enhanced tuning potential.”
The rear coil shock gets size-specific spring rates to dial in the ride – 343lb on the S, 365 on M, 388 on L, 411 on XL & 434lb on XXL, plus separate shock tunes for sizes S-L vs. XL-XXL.
